The print of the design is covered with heat-treated glass. Murano glass comes from the Murano Island just north of Venice where the glass makers moved to from Venice in 1291 (because the glassworks represented a fire danger). Since then Murano glass has made an international name for itself in terms of beauty and quality. and is a result of centuries of glass making that have taken place on Murano. Murano glassmakers were the first to know how to make mirrors.
