Product Description

The teak Vitus Bering Chair by Skagerak is named after the Danish explorer, Vitus Bering, who in the 1700's mapped the straits between the Asian and American continents.

Bering Straits Great discoveries should normally be sought beyond one's own horizon. This was a fact to the Danish explorer, Vitus Bering, who in the 1700's mapped the separation between the Asian and American continents. And this is a fact for today's architects of new design conquests to the delight of future generations.

Teak
Teak is a fine wood for both outdoor and indoor furniture with a beautiful pattern, exotic scent and strong structural properties. It grows mostly in South-East Asia and is heavy, hard and stable. With its high content of naturally impregnating oils, teak is extremely resistant to wet and dry rot.

Skagerak Denmark
Skagerak Denmark Denmark A/S is a Danish company founded in 1976 with headquarters in Hadsund. Formerly know as Trip Trap, the primary business activities are design, development and sales of wooden furniture, flooring, gift articles and wood care products. Today more than 120 employees create a line of beautiful products, that are exported all over the world. Skagerak develops, markets and sells quality products mainly of wood and other natural materials for outdoor as well as indoor use. Their products appeal primarily to customers who value high quality, design and originality. They aim to be an environment-orientated company that pays a great deal of attention to the environment, both within the company and at every stage of manufacture of their products.

"Skagerak is based on the love of wood, proud traditions of craftsmanship and respect for the sea and for the history of seafaring. The values and traditions absorbed from these sources have been crucial in all my family's endeavours, even as far back as the 19th century, when my great-great grandfather, Soren Mollebygger, built the first sawmills for sawing and working up the flotsam and jetsam of the shipwrecks, all too frequent at that time, on Skagen Odde. These raw materials provided the basis for the joinery skills for which Skagen is widely known and which live on in Denmark's carpentry traditions. Skagerak is the product of generations of our family's passion for wood - and it all began with driftwood"
lb Møller, founder of Skagerak (formerly Trip Trap)
