Product Description

The mahogany Adirondack Chair from Hyre's Country Haven is rustic yet distinguished.

It has a rolled seat and a rolled back that tapers at the bottom to match your individual body curves and give you a snug supportive feel. The chair has wide arms that are at the perfect height for resting your arms or a drink. This couples to give the chair an unmatched comfort when compared to other Adirondack chairs that simply have a straight back and straight bottom. This comfort is further enhanced with the use of either the Ottoman (which gives you a long comfortable roll similar to a chaise lounge) or the Footrest/End Table (that raises your feet higher than the Ottoman for a more laid-back feel, which also doubles as an end table).
For durability, the chair takes advantage of the back legs, which support the upper part of the chair back when leaned against. It also takes stress off of the arms of the chair since the arms are not supporting the back as seen on other Adirondack chairs that have no back legs. The back legs allow more ground contact and sturdier seating when placed on the surface.

Hardware
This chair uses more screws and more bolts than most other Adirondack chairs. 4 screws are used per seat slat and back slat and 8 bolts for securing the legs of the chair. All hardware is brass with a stainless steel finish. Each bolt is of 5/16" diameter and is a strong securing fastener. Hyre also uses 5/16" hanger bolts for fastening the back of the arm to the back leg. (A hanger bolt is a bolt that is a wood screw on one side and nut threaded on the other). Hanger bolts give the arm a very ...>>>

Some special features include plugged screw holes that are sanded flush for a smooth finish. These not only look and feel nice by adding a touch of quality but they also provide a purpose: with a screw hole just countersunk the wood has a tendency to surface crack at the middle of the screw hole and extend to the end grain of the wood. Though this kind of cracking is not damaging to the furniture it can be prevented from happening by simply plugging the screw holes. Button caps are also provided to cover screw holes that have to be left unplugged for shipping and reassembly by the customer leaving no exposed holes on the finished product. All edges are routered with a 1/2 " round over, which gives a smooth sculptured look and feel and eliminates snags and splinters.

Mahogany
This furniture is constructed of kiln-dried 5/4" Dark Red Meranti Variety Mahogany. All items come with an oil finish. 5/4" lumber is used throughout the entire product line, with the finished thickness of 1 1/16" thick. Mahogany is a tropical hardwood that is easily maintained and is insect, fungus and rot-resistant. It is a hard and strong wood comparable in strength to Oak and Teak, and is much more scratch-resistant than Cedar or Pine. With the best regards for our environment every effort is taken to ensure that the Mahogany is sourced from well-managed permanent forests that allocate re-plantation.

Maintenance
Maintaining the natural color: If you prefer to maintain the natural beauty of the Mahogany wood enhanced by the Boiled Linseed Oil finish we recommend a periodic maintenance application of Boiled linseed oil. Boiled Linseed Oil, Teak Oil or a name brand deck water proofing containing UV protection are suitable finishes. Apply using a multi-purpose spray bottle and wipe off excess oil with a cloth. Applying the oil will ensure the furniture is protected from color fading UV rays and its appearance maintained. A periodic application is recommended as weather conditions indicate for your area. Note: We like to remind you to please read all instructions on the label of the oil you use and follow proper procedures for discarding rags.

Polyurethane finish: Polyurethane can be used, however, it is only recommended if your furniture is not going to be placed in direct sunlight. Polyurethane dries hard on top of the surface of the wood (like a paint) instead of soaking into the wood such as Boiled Linseed or Teak Oil. If placed in direct sunlight a polyurethane finish may crack and chip.
